Cellist Ophélie Gaillard’s recordings are always striking. From ‘Dreams’ to the Bach Cello Suites, highly acclaimed by the critics, and not forgetting the admirable recording of Bach Arias with the ensemble Pulcinella, she constantly renews the genres she approaches through the perfection of her interpretations.
In the very intense pieces on this programme — two monumental sonatas, opp. 38 and 99, and a trio with clarinet, op.114, by Johannes Brahms — she is accompanied by two first-rate soloists, Louis Schwizgebel-Wang, piano, and Fabio Di Càsola, clarinet. Ophélie Gaillard’s playing is gloriously melodious, and she sublimates the lyricism of these beautiful works.
